PAX Australia 2026 runs October 9–11 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre with a stacked playable pre-release lineup led by Total War: Warhammer 40,000, Alien: Isolation 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer and Persona 4 Revival. Organizers confirmed the core expo floor lineup on September 17–18, with more exhibitors and schedule details still to be announced.
PAX Australia 2026 at a glance
The dates are locked: October 9–11, 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. PC Gamer, MKAU Gaming and Esports Kingdom all reported the same window this week, framing it as one of the biggest PAX Aus show floors to date.
Why the buzz this year? Publishers are bringing hands-on builds months before launch, not just trailers. SEGA, Activision and Square Enix anchor the floor with playable demos, while more than 90 indie games fill the Aus Indie Showcase, PAX Rising and New Zealand's Centre of Digital Excellence (CODE) pavilions. Hardware launches, esports finals and creator activations round out the floor.
The lineup revealed so far is not final. All three outlets note that additional exhibitors and timetable details are still to be announced, including panel times and stage schedules. If you are traveling, book near South Wharf early - that precinct fills fast during PAX weekend and the show draws across all three days.
Sega's four playable titles
SEGA has the largest playable footprint announced so far with four hands-on games. The headline is Total War: Warhammer 40,000, playable across three distinct gameplay scenarios where you command Space Marines. It is the first public hands-on for Creative Assembly's Warhammer 40K strategy entry and its Australian debut on the show floor.
Next is Alien: Isolation 2, listed as a survival-horror playable demo on the SEGA booth. Details on build length are still light, but the listing confirms hands-on time rather than a theater presentation. Expect queues - the original has a huge PC following and this is a pre-release look.
The booth rounds out with Stranger Than Heaven, described as combat action with a unique system, and Persona 4 Revival, the remake of the RPG classic. Both are playable on the floor. For PC players, Total War and Persona are the key watch - both are natural fits for mouse-and-keyboard but will also draw controller interest when they hit PC storefronts.

Activision and Square Enix highlights
Activision is bringing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer to PAX Aus for hands-on ahead of its global launch on October 23, 2026. The demo is rated MA 15+ and is described as a selection of multiplayer content, giving Australian fans an early look about two weeks before release. It is positioned as an Australian-first playable opportunity, not just a stream.
Square Enix is splitting its presence in two. For FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, the publisher is running hands-on Nintendo Switch 2 gameplay, plus a bracelet-making activity and themed photo opportunity for Warriors of Light. The MMO presence extends beyond the floor with 'A Realm Reburned,' a developer panel featuring Localization Director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox and Global Community Producer Toshio 'Foxclon' Murouchi, who will share behind-the-scenes stories while taking on a hot sauce challenge.
The second Square Enix focus is FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION, billed as the epic conclusion to the remake project where Cloud and his companions face Sephiroth. PAX Aus will host a deep dive showcase ahead of its April 8, 2027 release. No playable build was confirmed for this title - treat it as a presentation and Q&A rather than hands-on for now.
Ubisoft community stage and other floor attractions
Not everything is a queue-for-a-demo booth. Ubisoft's community stages will host the Rainbow Six Siege APL Oceania Stage Finals with a $40,000 prize pool, alongside a Just Dance party stage, a cosplay runway and an Assassin's Creed sea shanty singalong. These are spectacles and participation events built for the crowd.
The indie footprint is massive: over 90 games across the Aus Indie Showcase powered by Superloop, PAX Rising and CODE. If you want discovery, block out time here - these are playable before almost anyone else and often have developers on the sticks to talk PC specs, storefront plans and launch windows.
Hardware and culture fill the gaps. Mwave is building a sandpit with a remote-controlled excavator to dig for prizes, Aftershock PC is running a Journey Book stamp rally to win custom PCs and a racing simulator, and PowerA will show the Meridian Flight Controller ahead of its 2027 release. Partners including ASUS ROG, Thermaltake, Keychron, Turtle Beach, plus the AFK Room supported by Beyond Blue, the Superloop Main Theatre, eBay Live, Red Bull, Lexus simulators, Kraken's Lair Bar and Crunchyroll round out the floor.
How to plan your PAX Aus visit
Prioritize by launch proximity and queue math. Modern Warfare 4 is about two weeks from launch, so its multiplayer demo will be closest to final balance and likely the longest lines. Total War: Warhammer 40,000 and Alien: Isolation 2 are earlier in their marketing cycles, so expect curated scenarios and capped session times.
Check age and access notes before you queue. Modern Warfare 4 is MA 15+, and most big booths will cap sessions to keep lines moving. For indies, mornings are usually quieter - hit Aus Indie Showcase and PAX Rising early, then tackle the big publisher booths after lunch when staff rotate builds.
Watch for the next announcement wave. Organizers and press both stress that more exhibitors and the full panel and esports timetable are still to come, including times for the FFXIV hot sauce panel and the Siege finals. Keep your badge email handy and follow official PAX Aus channels for timetable drops.
